We are currently looking for a Java Web Developer to join our team. The web developer will be involved in a cross-platform migration project and be responsible for customizing, deploying, and maintaining a suite of J2EE web applications. Candidates should have a minimum of two years experience developing database driven, n-tier web applications using J2EE technologies. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a strong grasp of Java programming language fundamentals, object oriented design methodologies, database design principles, software engineering practices, and lifecycles. A strong understanding of the architecture of J2EE web applications and the various components (including JSPs, Servlets, Java Beans, JARs, tag libraries, and deployment descriptor) and common design patterns (MVC, Front Controller, etc) is a must. Prior development experience using the Java Struts framework and WebADE is highly desirable. Working knowledge of UNIX (any flavor) is also a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced web knowledge – Java, JSP, Servlets, ASP, ASP .NET, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Strong database design skills and experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase and/or MySQL
- Cross-platform development experience – MS Windows 2000, Solaris 2.10
- Experience using IDEs such as JDeveloper, NetBeans, and/or JBuilder
- Experience developing, deploying, and testing applications using various J2EE web containers and application servers such as Tomcat Apache, OC4J, Oracle Application Server, Sun Application Server, and WebSphere
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills and ability to systematically identify and troubleshoot technical issues
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow strict developmental procedures and guidelines
- Ability to work closely with Developers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Technical Writers
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Strong work ethic and desire to grow
- Graphics design and layout experience is preferred
Required Skills:
- A 2-year degree or diploma from an accredited university or technical institute
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
- Experience working with: Java, JSP, Servlets, Struts, HTML, CSS, MS SQL Server, Oracle, MS Windows, Solaris; Prior experience with WebADE a definite asset
