We are currently looking for a user interface designer to join our team. This is a part-time contract position, leading to full-time. The user interface designer will work in new product development and lead the design on several new software development projects. The user interface designer will work closely with senior coders, project managers, technical writers and quality assurance officers and will be responsible for designing user task flows, conceptual mock-ups and user interface specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and work from product requirement specifications
- Understand the usage and the business logic of individual software development projects in order to design the optimal user interface for each project
- Gather user requirements, design user task flows, design conceptual mock-ups and wireframes, conduct design reviews, define user interface specifications, and work with the software development team to implement the interface
- Define user interface guidelines for all of DigiCoyote Software Inc’s products
- Produce graphical user interface design that is easy to use for individual target markets
- Follow DigiCoyote’s rigorous software development process to achieve product development goals and meet timelines
- Promote DigiCoyote through each design effort
Required Skills and Experience:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, human computer interaction or cognitive psychology coupled with design
- A minimum of 2 years of development experience in graphical user interface design and usability
- Knowledge of Windows UI Guidelines
- Understand technical feasibility of a graphical user interface
- Experience with designing graphical user interface for client software and web software
- Experience in designing for inventory control software is an asset
- Experience in designing interfaces for developer products and open software is an asset
- Experience with Visio, Adobe Photoshop or another GUI design software application is required
- Experience with .Net and Java is an asset
- High level of professionalism and a team player
- Excellent organizational skills, highly motivated and energetic
- All applicants should have excellent English language communication skills; working knowledge of other languages is an advantage
